[The Essence of Islam, Band 5 Seite 24]

[The Essence of Islam, Band 3 Seite 138-139]

[The Essence of Islam, Band 3 Seite 139]

Accursed is he who claims to be a Prophet, but whose Prophethood is divorced from the grace of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.) The Prophethood that has been bestowed on me belongs to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and is not a new Prophethood. Its only purpose is to make manifest to the world the truth of Islam and to display the righteousness of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.) I believe truly and completely in God’s word: '..but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.' (33:40) This verse contains a prophecy of which our opponents are not aware: God Almighty affirms in this verse that, after the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the door of prophecy has been closed forever and that it is no longer possible that a Hindu or a Jain or a Christian or a nominal Muslim should be able to rightfully assume the title of Prophet. All doors of Prophethood have been closed except that of complete devotion to the Holy Prophet. [The Essence of Islam Volume 3 - Page 139]

- 72:26-27 - [The Essence of Islam, Band 3 Seite 140]

In short, my Prophethood and Messengership is because of my being Muhammad and Ahmad and not because of my own self, and I have been given this name by virtue of my utter devotion to the Holy Prophet. Thus there is no contravention of the Seal of Prophethood, but the supposed descent of Jesus from heaven would certainly amount to such contravention. It should also be remembered that the literal meaning of ‘Nabi’ is one who discloses the unseen in consequence of being informed of it by God. Therefore, wherever this connotation is established, the title of Prophet would be justified. A Prophet is necessarily a Messenger, for if he is not a Messenger, he cannot be the recipient of knowledge of the unseen as indicated by the verse: ‘He reveals not His secrets to anyone, except to him whom He chooses, namely a Messenger of His.’(72:26-27)  [The Essence of Islam Volume 3 - Page 140]

[The Essence of Islam, Band 3 Seite 142]

I do not deny being a Prophet and a Messenger in this connotation. It is for the same reason that the Promised Messiah has been designated a Prophet in Sahih Muslim. If one who is bestowed knowledge of the unseen by God Almighty cannot bear the title of ‘Nabi’, how then should he be designated? If you say that such a one should be called Muhaddath, I would counter that no lexicon attributes to the word ‘Tahdith’ the meaning ‘disclosure of the unseen’, but Prophethood has this connotation. The word ‘Nabi’ [Prophet] is common to Arabic and Hebrew. In Hebrew it is called Nabi and is derived from the root Naba meaning to prophesize on the basis of knowledge derived from God. [The Essence of Islam Volume 3 - Page 142]

[The Essence of Islam,  Band 3 Seite 143]

By following this Prophethood a person easily attains nearness to God. Obedience to it makes one more worthy of the bounty of the love of God, and of converse with Him, than was the case with previous Prophethoods. But a perfect follower of this Prophethood cannot just be called a Prophet, for this would be an offence against the complete and perfect Prophethood of Muhammad. He can be called a Prophet and the follower of a Prophet at the same time, for this involves no offence against the complete and perfect Prophethood of Muhammad, but rather adds to its brightness. When converse with the Divine arrives at its climax, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and suffers from no impurity or deficiency and unequivocally comprehends the matters relating to the unseen, it is designated Prophethood. [The Essence of Islam Volume 3 - Page 143]

[The Essence of Islam, Band 3 Seite 146-147]

In order to provoke the common people, my opponents allege that I lay claim to Prophethood. This is an utterly false accusation. I do not claim any Prophethood that is barred by the Holy Qur’an. All I claim is that in one aspect I am a follower of the Holy Prophet and, in another, through the grace of the Prophethood of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), I am a Prophet. In my case Prophethood means only that I am frequently honoured with converse with God Almighty. [The Essence of Islam Volume 3 - Page 146-147]

[The Essence of Islam, Band 3 Seite 343]

The Promised Messiah has been described in Hadith as a Nabi’ullah [Prophet of Allah] which means that he will receive revelation from God Almighty. But here Prophethood does not mean complete and perfect Prophethood, for a seal has been set on such Prophethood forever. The Prophethood I speak of is confined to Muhaddathiyyat,´ which obtains light from the Muhammadi lamp. This is a special bounty which has been bestowed upon this humble one. [The Essence of Islam Volume 3 - Page 343]

[The Essence of Islam, Band 1 Seite 30]

The sign of a true religion is that through its teaching such righteous ones should continue to arise who should arrive at the stage of a Muhaddath to whom God Almighty should speak face to face. [The Essence of Islam Volume 1 - Page 30]

[The Essence of Islam, Band 1 Seite 146]

By way of awakening and warning, other people also might occasionally have the experience of true dreams, but the experience of the converse of God is something entirely different. It is vouchsafed only to those who are His favourites. When such a one supplicates God Almighty He manifests Himself to him with His glory and causes His spirit to descend upon him and intimates to him the acceptance of his prayer in His loving words. He who has this experience very frequently is called Prophet or Muhaddath. [The Essence of Islam Volume 1 - Page 146]

[The Essence of Islam,  Band 4 Seite 49]

I believe in all that which is contained in the Holy Qur’an and in true Ahadith. I do not claim that I am Jesus son of Mary nor do I believe in the transmigration of souls. I only claim that I have been sent in the likeness of Jesus. As Muhaddathiyyat resembles Prophethood, in the same way my spiritual condition very closely resembles the spiritual condition of Jesus son of Mary, and I am truly a Muslim. In short, I am a Muhaddath from God and have been commissioned by Him. And at the same time I am a Muslim who has come in the fourteenth century as a Reformer of the faith from the Lord of the heavens and earth in the character and spirit of Jesus son of Mary. I am not an impostor. [The Essence of Islam Volume 4 - Page 49]

[Elucidation of Objectives, Seite 16-17]

A Muhaddath, in a way, is also a Prophet. It is true that his Prophethood is not absolute or complete, but he is, in part, a Prophet, for he has the honour of talking to God and the secrets of the unseen are revealed to him; like the messengers of God and His Prophets, the revelations he receives are free from satanic interference; he is taught the deeper meaning and essence of the Law; he is ordained exactly like Prophets and, like them, he is under obligation to openly pronounce and declare his ministry; and anyone who rejects him incurs a kind of Divine chastisement. Prophethood too requires these same characteristics to be present in the person who claims to be a Prophet. To the objection that the door to Prophethood is closed forever, and that the revelation which the Prophets receive has now ceased, my answer is that neither has the door to all kinds of Prophethood been completely closed, nor has every kind of revelation been stopped. [Elucidation of Objectives - Page 16-17]

[Elucidation of Objectives, Seite 17]

The fact is that the door to Prophethood remains open to the Ummah. But let it be understood, once and for all, that the institution of Prophethood, which is forever interminable, is neither absolute nor complete but is only partial, as I have just mentioned. Another name for it is Muhaddathiyat25. It is granted only through total submission to the Perfect Man who is the repository of all excellences pertaining to perfect Prophethood. [Elucidation of Objectives - Page 17]

14. Kein neuer Prophet

[The Essence of Islam, Band 3 Seite 145-146]

Remember, I am not a Messenger or Prophet by virtue of a new law, a new claim or a new name; but I am a Messenger and Prophet by virtue of perfect reflection. I am the mirror in which the form and the Prophethood of Muhammad are perfectly reflected. Had I been a claimant of distinct Prophethood, God Almighty would not have named me Muhammad and Ahmad and Mustafa and Mujtaba. [The Essence of Islam Volume 3 - Page 145-146]

[Elucidation of Objectives, Seite 15-16]

However, if the objection is raised that since the first Messiah was a Prophet of God, the second Messiah too ought to be a Prophet, the answer is that the Holy Prophet did not make Prophethood as the condition precedent for the Second Messiah: it is clearly recorded that he would be a Muslim by faith and practise the Quranic law like other Muslims. He will not claim to be anyone other than a Muslim and the Imam of Muslims. There is no doubt that Allah has appointed me, a humble person, as Muhaddath24. [Elucidation of Objectives - Page 15-16]

- 33:40 [Elucidation of Objectives, Seite 18]

“Do try to understand—and may Allah guide you aright—that a Prophet is a Muhaddath and a Muhaddath a Prophet, i.e., a Muhaddath is vouchsafed one out of many kinds of Prophethood. The Holy Prophet says that of the different kinds of Prophethood, nothing remains except Mubashirat—glad tidings. In other words, only one kind of Prophethood is left, namely, spiritual experiences, for example, true dreams, visions and revelations of which the elect of God are the recipients and the accompanying light that illumines the dismal hearts of suffering humanity. Do consider, my sharp and wise critic! How can you ever conclude from this that the door to all kinds of Prophethood is totally closed? On the contrary, this tradition of the Holy Prophet proves that Prophethood of the principal kind containing revealed law has of course been terminated but the Prophethood comprising Mubashshirat—true dreams, visions, revelations, etc., continues and will never come to an end till the day of resurrection and shall never be terminated. As you are well aware, and should have also read in books of Ahadith, true dreams constitute one out of the forty six parts of Prophethood, i.e., Prophethood of the perfect kind. Whereas even true dreams partake of the Prophetic station, you can well imagine the exalted quality of the word of God revealed to the hearts of Muhaddathin. Therefore, do try to understand—and may Allah be your help—that the doors to this kind of partial participation in Prophethood are always open. And this kind of Prophethood contains nothing but Mubashirat and Munzirat (glad tidings and warnings) concerning hidden and unseen phenomena, Quranic subtleties and Divine knowledge. As for the kind of Prophethood that is supreme and perfect and comprehends all the excellences of revelation, we certainly believe it to have terminated since the Divine revelation: " 'Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.' " (The Qur’an 33:41) [Elucidation of Objectives - Page 18]

[Majmu‘a Ishtiharat, 1986 Edition, Band 1 Seite 312-314]
